One of our friends just got home from being deployed and we went to a welcome home BBQ for him, they had a pool set up for the kids and it was so great to watch them cool down and have fun. Everyday we are reminded of how lucky we are to have such selfless men and women fighting for our freedom. Fort Bragg may not be the most glamorous place and it may have it's fair share of downfalls, but all in all I am grateful for being here to experience what true patriotism is. Here are just two pictures of the kiddos from the BBQ. They both went fully under the water and left lots of little footprints all over their back cement slab. I love summer!
One thing about North Carolina that some of you may know and some may not is that there are massive rainstorms! I mean the thunder and lightening is so intense that the whole house lights up and at times it is more like a strobe light than a lightening storm. Along with the lightening storms is rain and hail too... Rain can go for hours or it can be like a faucet and turn on full power and be off in 15 minutes... this was a short spurt of rain, but it was hard enough that our lawn was quite flooded and the streets were just big puddles... it was fun :) The kids put on their rain boots and we went outside for some dirty fun! As you can see below they loved it... Although I have never been a huge fan of being wet and sticky, here in NC it's so warm out that it's hard not to enjoy a good rainstorm, the twinkies happy faces and smiles may help me out in the enjoyment factor of storms as well. They are definitely more like daddy and not scared of them one bit.
Ryan is always running and it is so hard to even get one shot of him holding still, but this was a rare occasion above and although he is not looking at me it is a great representation of how happy he is when he gets to play outside rain or shine! Randi on the other hand is a little ham... she loves the camera and is quite the poser, as you see below she is all smiles and all about being the center of attention in the shot... I love these boogers... short post, but fun and an update none the less!
I think sometimes as adults we truly do forget to stop and take a moment to enjoy the beautiful wonders of this world and storms are just one of them, I love the smell of rain, I love the look of grass and trees and flowers freshly rained on and I love the thought of all the yucky germs on our toys and cars and things being washed away... nature is amazing and beautiful and I love being outside! I can't wait for the next big storm and hope it happens soon for us to enjoy and marvel at.
