Christmas Eve & Christmas Day

Christmas Eve was full of fun... we started the day riding their new scooters they got for their birthday, which is so much fun to watch them ride. They love them (unless Randi has to go up a hill, then all I hear, is "momma my legs are too tired, daddy this is hard" silly girl) Then we made sugar cookies and decorated them. It was so fun to watch the kids decorate them, they are getting too big too fast and way too independent, which makes me proud and sad all at the same time. Quick story, Randi made a "baby Jesus" cookie, it was so sweet, she said that since it was his birthday he needed a cookie... then she would not allow ANYONE to eat that cookie... we told her babies can't have cookies but it was very sweet of her and if she wanted it then she could eat it... still she said no, we need to save it until baby Jesus is bigger so he can eat it :) So cute!

After it got dark Ryan hadn't thrown up all day so we went to two homes that have light displays synced to music... it was amazing! The kids loved it and we spent about 40 minutes between the two houses and another 30 just driving around at other neighborhoods, I love lights, they make me happy and in the mood for Christmas carols, so we sang every one we could think of!

When we got home we all got to open one present, now this is a tradition in our home, we get jammies... every year, it's not a surprise anymore what we are getting but the style is :) These are the kiddos jammies this year, Carl got house slippers and Jess got house slippers and a fuzzy robe which is so cuddly and perfect!

Just a quick photo of Carl and I on Christmas Eve after all the "Santa" work was done... we were exhausted but it was a blast. We even made the kids sleep in our room on the floor so that they wouldn't wake up and take a peek before waking us up!

Carl got a video of their reaction when they first walked out on Christmas morning but I actually haven't downloaded that yet... so I'll just tell you the story, Ryan woke up early, and so we woke up daddy and Randi and daddy had to go out to check if Santa had came, so he did. The kids ran out and ran straight past the gifts to the cookies, veggies and milk we left out for Santa and the Reindeer's... Santa had left about half a cookie on the plate and they were so devastated! "Mommy why didn't he eat ALL his cookie" Ryan asked, Randi said "Well he took his vegetables, that's good" while they discussed this Carl and I are trying to get them to turn around to see their toys... it took a good 5 minutes... When they saw their work bench and vanity that was all they cared about, we basically had to force them to open their other gifts, but once they started opening their gifts they wanted to open everyone's, including mommy and daddy's, which was fine, we had a lot of help and a big mess :)

Don't mind the yucky hair and no make up for me, but here is our Christmas morning photo

All ready for the day and enjoying their presents! Randi turned her vanity into a puppy grooming station... here the puppy (whom she named Butterscotch) was getting a nap :)

Finally I had to post my favorite gifts this year... a mother's bangle from Carl... Oops I mean Santa that reads "A mother holds her children's hand for a short while, but their hearts forever" Gorgeous and perfect... agree? And Randi got a bead kit to make bracelets and necklaces and her and Ryan decided mommy needed one... so they picked the beads and made me a bracelet... made me cry :)

I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and that there were moments you were able to reflect on the reason we have Christmas and just had time to enjoy family and friends!
