8 Week Challenge

So this year I did only made one New Years Resolution and that was to live a healthier life...
To me that involves the mind, body and soul...

So my mind... well I'm taking more time to read and spending more time helping the children develop their beautiful sponges, called minds...

My body... this is not a diet thing or a get buff thing, this is a get back into my jeans without sucking in and feeling confident thing! Myself and some other amazing women have started a challenge, it's an 8 week challenge and if you'd like to know details you can follow the link below...

We are on week three and by strictly increasing my fruits and veggies, decreasing my meats and dairy products and working out at least 5 times a week I have dropped 9lbs and have more energy. I'm sleeping better and feeling more confident. I have a long way to go, but I am learning how to eat what I need and not what I want. I am having the kids try new foods, such as kale shakes, Hake (white fish), pomegranates, and much much more that kids don't normally try... now they don't like everything, but trying it is a first step. This challenge is a true way to change someones life and perception of food. I enjoy eating and I am enjoying cooking more and everything from scratch. Processed food is a seldom thing in this household lately and I love it! (as does my wallet! surprisingly we are spending less $$ on food because we are full more and are receiving the nutrients we need so we are not craving the nasty stuff)

Finally my soul... we are trying to pray more and teach the children the importance of prayer and having quiet time to breath and think of all the great things we have. We are learning to speak nicer words and help more and most importantly spend time together as a family. I have started studying scriptures again and hoping to attend church as a family more often.

The most important thing about these changes to our lives is that we continue them throughout the year because in this past month we have had more fun, more energy, more money and more love in our household. It's amazing that when you take time to take care of yourself, you seem to have more time for those around you and have more of a desire to help those you care for.

Life is short... so we truly do have to "Love like you've never been hurt, Work like you don't need the money, and Dance like no one is watching."
