Christmas a bit late!

Well it all really starts on Christmas Eve, we have to bake the cookies for Santa! We decided on Mint chocolate chip cookies... the kids and mommy loved them, daddy wasn't too sure about the mint and Uncle AJ, well if he ate more than one they'd probably put him into a diabetic coma... Santa however we thought would love them... so on with the aprons...

and the baking began! Don't mind the mess in the background when I really cook (which I did for about 3 days) my kitchen is full of dishes and food everywhere! The twinkies even helped roll the cookies into balls! I was so proud that they didn't try to eat all the cookie dough and that we actually got some cookies baked!

Then it was time for a family tradition... one present at bed time... which always results in... (drum roll please)

PAJAMAS!!!

Here are the twinkies modeling their new jammies and being silly

And the whole family in our new jammies together... a great way to start out Christmas if you ask me :)

We set out the cookies and egg nog and all went to bed...

In the morning... the kids ran out to see what was left... Randi said "Awe, no more milk! Santa ate it all!" then there was one cookie left that Ryan proceeded to steal and eat before momma was able to catch him.

Present opening was next... the twins dug in and were not shy about ripping their presents open and throwing the wrapping paper anywhere they could find an empty space.

Ryan loves Fire Trucks and was super excited when he opened a Tonka Fire truck!

Randi gasped and said "I like it so much! You open it!?" when she saw her leap pad...

Ryan kind of surpassed his leap pad and went straight for his first drum set... it was loud and pretty funny to watch him pound away on it :)

After the opening was over and the kids were ready for the day we all relaxed and played with our new toys, I just had to include this picture of Carl and Randi, she is looking at him with such love and happiness and he is just a good looking guy so... I couldn't help myself!

We had a roast with roasted veggies and rolls for dinner and it was perfect. We tried to have the kids sit down and talk about baby Jesus and they enjoyed playing with the nativity, but I look forward to the day that I can teach them exactly what Christmas is about.

Also we introduced a new family tradition and I urge you all to adopt one similar if you are able. Carl decided that he was going to help out a homeless man, simply by buying him a warm healthy meal, then he helped a few others so he asked me what I was going to do... well I thought about it and decided I wanted to take a full meal to a random house... so we found a cute Christmas bag, filled it with a family size Tomato soup, a deli baked loaf of bread, a block of cheese, sparkling cider, popcorn and candy canes and packed it in all cute then drove around until we found a house that we felt would be the perfect family... we pulled a bit away and I ran to the door, rang the doorbell and ran back to the car. We sped off and drove back around about 5 minutes later and the bag was gone... we are unsure if that is the house that got it or if some punk teenager stole it, but it was exhilarating and we plan on doing it yearly to one or more families if we can afford it and letting the kids help pick the homes and learn the importance of giving to those in need or less fortunate or just to show a random act of kindness... that drive and dropping of a meal to a family was my favorite part of Christmas this year...

What was yours?
