We were fortunate enough to have family 5 hours away in VA that we traveled to see for Thanksgiving this year. We hadn't seen many of them in quite a long time so it was wonderful to be with family. I love this time of year, even though people should be loving and kind and generous all year round, this season always brings out the best in people (well except maybe in the mall and shopping experiences) either way I love it. I love the hearty home cooking, the moments that are dedicated to being thankful and remembering our history as a nation, the teaching to our children the true meanings of the holiday season and each past time and carrying on traditions that we once did as kids. Anyways, here are a few moments from our mini vacation to VA and DC over Thanksgiving.
Randi was obsessed with this laptop, I'm not sure it worked, but she would sit there for hours if not forced to share with the other kids. It was fun to watch her be so grown up and type on the keyboard while talking to herself.
We met Aliya for the first time!!! It had been long awaited and well worth it, she is such a great baby and so cute! I love her cheeks and chubby thighs and rolls, I stole her every second I could and where I thought it would help cure me of my "baby fever" it didn't, she was too precious and it made me think... maybe one more down the road :)
Here is proud momma and daddy... Stevie and Matt are great parents, they were so attentive to what Aliya needed and she smiled and laughed often. It was so fun to see them be parents, and a bit weird too! Why does everyone have to grow up!?
The twins were introduced to ping pong and Ryan was instantly hooked, he has quite the skill too! More than one of his shots went past me :) I think a few years down the road daddy is going to have some major competition!
We went to the Spare and Air Museum in DC, but somehow I lost ALL my photos from it, I'm extremely disappointed as I have never seen Ryan so enthralled and excited about anything. He loves airplanes and the space ships and Randi did too, if you could see me now you'd see how a grown woman looks with makeup running... seriously so sad... I can't recreate those pictures and I was so looking forward to sharing them with the twinkies when they were older... I guess we will just have to make a trip back there and try again... :( I do however have a few of us at the Capitol building, it really is a magnificent place to visit. All the history and architecture is just fascinating. I love visiting!
It was a great Thanksgiving and I'm looking forward to Christmas now :) Life is good and I'm so blessed. I'm thankful for my husband, for our beautiful children, for our home and jobs. I'm thankful for our families that continually support and love us and help us in times of need. I'm thankful for our ancestors who suffered so much in order to develop this nation. I'm thankful and in debt to those that have served this country to maintain our freedom and rights. I pray for continued freedom, for continued patriotism that seems to be fading, and I pray that we will always have each other. We only have one life, so we need to make it count and spend quiet moments throughout the whole year remembering what we are blessed with and thankful for. As well as letting others know we love them and appreciate them. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are ready for the joys of Christmas!
