We had an amazing weekend trip the last full weekend in June to the beach thanks to some very caring and generous people. We stayed at a resort that was so breathtaking and exclusive that we felt a little under dressed! Luckily most of the other people were older and retired so khaki's and Hawaiian shirts were all over. :) Here is a bit of a recap of our weekend.
We also had a family photoshoot on the beach, as you can tell in the first one, Ryan did not like having to hold still for the photos and was quite mad that we made him... so after that, we let them roam around and got some fun family shots anyways. The beach was windy and there was no point in doing my hair that morning, but I'm please none the less and we have the perfect Holiday Card shot for the Christmas season, so look forward to it!
This was "The Christmas House" it stays like this year round... it cracks me up for some reason, but there is some crazy candy and ice cream inside supposedly, we didn't go in because of being out in the sun for so long already and desperately needing food and a nap for the kids... but when we visit again I hope to go check it out!
We were also offered a boat ride and it was a blast. The kids hated the life vests, but loved the boat. The weather was beautiful and the ocean was calm. Our hosts of the ride were amazing and have offered us a free room and rides on the boat as often as we want. They are truly great people and we were lucky to have met them.
Here the kiddos are out on our deck at our condo. It was a large deck and they enjoyed playing on it. It is screened in so there were no bugs, a great golf course view, and the kids couldn't squeeze between the bars. :) Here they are knocking to come back inside, even though the door was already open. You have to love these two! They are such good and happy babies.
This was on Oak Island Beach... an overcast day at times, but beautiful and hot nonetheless. The kids had so much fun in the hard and wet sand, but didn't care for the soft sand so much. Especially Randi, they both got in the ocean, but Ryan preferred the water more. We built sandcastles, collected sea shells, ran all over, threw frisbees, ate sand coated fun fruits and crackers, and drank more water than I thought was possible with two toddlers! I think I could have spent the rest of the year on that beach.
After the beach this is exactly how we all felt... Tired, exhausted, to the point of utter sillyness!
And finally a shot of the bog near our condo. We went on a 2.5 mile walk one night and it involved walking over this beautiful windy wood bridge over a bog... below there were frogs and these little crabs! it was fun to watch them roam around and collect things. They were cute, but I'm glad there were far enough away not to tough! I'm a chicken! :)
Amazing weekend, amazing people, amazing town, and amazing family time! We loved it and hope to do it again. We plan on making it a yearly tradition to take one trip a year as a family and one trip a year as a couple, which will be the next post!
